Cath and Ben

Cath and Ben were born and brought up in the Swansea Valley in South Wales. They went to neighbouring schools and met by chance some years later when out socialising with friends. It soon became apparent that they were made for eachother.

Three years later, on July 12, 2008, they married at their local parish church in South Wales. Cath was a doctor, training to become a GP.  Ben, was a physiotherapist in his third year at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol.

One day after the marriage, the happy couple set off on honeymoon. They went to Antigua, a wedding gift from friends and family. They were seen enjoying the resort and talking eagerly of coming home to start a family.

The night before they were to return home to Wales, only two weeks after their wedding, the couple were shot and killed in their honeymoon cottage by robbers.

They were buried together in Wales at the same church in which they had married a few weeks earlier. Around 900 people attended their funeral which was held at Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff on the 10th September 2008.

The Mullany Fund was formed to keep the dreams of Cath and Ben Mullany alive.

Their values and ambitions will serve as inspiration for others who wish to follow in their footsteps.
