The Ospreys are supporting The Mullany Fund. There will be a bucket collection in their Magners League match against Llanelli Scarlets at the Liberty Stadium on the 27th December 2008. Ospreys star Jones has called the scheme a fantastic idea, and added it will be fully supported by the Magners League club.

“We at the Ospreys were extremely saddened at the deaths of two such young and talented people,” he said.

“As professional rugby players, involved in a very physical contact sport, we are extremely reliant on the medical profession.

“I think it tremendous that the families and friends of Ben and Catherine, at what is such an emotional time for them, have found the strength to look for something positive from such adversity.

“All at the Ospreys fully support the setting up of this fund and are privileged and honoured to support such a worthwhile cause.”

Money donated to The Mullany Fund will support UK students wishing to study medicine or physiotherapy.
