Students’ 10k Run Tribute To Ben

A STUDENT from the Swansea Valley has inspired classmates from Bristol to take on a running event on St David’s Day.

Undergraduates from the University of West England (UWE) are taking part in the 10k run in memory of Ben Mullany.

Ben, murdered with his bride Catherine while on honeymoon in Antigua last July, was in his third year of a physiotherapy degree.

Coursemate Simon Shepherd said the 31-year old was dearly loved and sorely missed.

“We are participating in the St David’s Day 10k run in Cardiff to raise money and awareness for the Mullany Fund—the charity set up in memory of Ben and Cath,” he added.

“Both students and staff thought this was fitting as Ben was so passionate about his heritage.

“We wanted to do a race on his home turf and to tie it in on St David’s Day seemed only right to us all.”

The 50 runners have raised more than £400 so far.
