Swans Pledge to Help Fund-Raising

TRAGIC bride Catherine Mullany treated Swans star Ferry Bodde’s son in hospital while she was training as a doctor. Now the club has pledged to do all it can to help the Mullany Fund. It has agreed to organise a collection during one of the team’s big home games, and has given the families a signed football to raise cash for the appeal.
Swansea City director David Morgan said they had invited the families to the Liberty Stadium, where they met manager Roberto Martinez, the players and members of the management team.
“They told us that Catherine had actually treated one of Ferry Bodde’s children when he was hospitalised because of a bad asthma attack,” said Mr Morgan.
“They also said Ben was a frequent visitor to the Liberty Stadium.”
He said it had been agreed there would be a bucket collection at a Swans home game.
“We have left it to the families to decide when they want it done,” said Mr Morgan.
“As soon as they tell us, we will publicise it.”
“While they were here we gave them a signed ball to hopefully raise some funds.”
“We also told them that, as the appeal goes on, if the club can assist in any way they only have to ask.”
The memorial fund is also being backed by the Ospreys, who say they are “privileged and honoured” to be supporting such a worthwhile cause.
Meanwhile, Cardiff Blues have offered to hold a collection at their EDF Cup match against Leicester Tigers next month.

"Ben and Catherine leave behind a legacy. They hit the hearts of the nation and the world with such an extraordinary love story."
"I am honoured to support The Mullany Fund, set up to help train new doctors and physiotherapists and keep the dreams of Cath and Ben alive."
